A village resident has managed to contact the water board and has received an email reply – extract herewith :
I work in the Corporate Affairs team at Scottish Water. I am getting in touch with information you requested regarding the service interruption in parts of the Dirleton area.
As you know we have fitted a new and bigger Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) that is feeding Kingston water supply. Whilst this was being tested our customers in Dirleton were temporarily moved to the Gullane water supply.
As of later this evening our customers in Dirleton will be transferred back to the Kingston supply. This should improve water pressure across the village and beyond. We apologise for any inconvenience.
There were tankers in the area for a short period but they are no longer needed.
